IN THE "NEIGHBOURHOOD" OF COLOGNE

The reason for creating this album is to do a ‘follow up’ on the things I look at, around in Cologne during the time i’m here. I have bought a bike, so now I just have get early up and experince the city in “golden hour”.

This time I’ll go a bit deeper in everything I do around photography by playing with new compositions and light, more storytelling and then the graphic work on this website afterwards. Simply because I now have the time to do it. This is a way of experience the cityscapes when the golden hour is putting everything together in a nice scenery and use it later as memories for all time.

This collection of images does also include photographie from the “neighbourhood” of Cologne: Düsseldorf, Amsterdam, Antwerpen, Münster, Monchau, Aachen, Bonn, Szecksard, Maastricht.

As an new approach to photography, I gradually try to ignore all the technical camera-setting-stuff, and focus more on what im photographing in terms of storytelling and composition. I’ve used many years on practicing the technical stuff, and I will of cause not just forget it, but try not to make it overrule the way im capturing the images. In technically stuff I mean sharpness, depth-of-field, ISO, focal length, white balance, exposure bla bla bla and stuff like that. With this approach it's more important to capture the right moment or a special situation rather than having the total-right and perfect setting - because then the special expression or movement of a person is gone forever.

GERMAN BRUTALISM
TV TOWER (Colonius) 1978

DRESSING UP FOR BARBEQUE IN HUNGARY

We went on a three days trip to hungary on a wineyard 10 min. from the nearrest city called Szecksard. Our reason for being there was cause of a wedding of Mies friends. Amazing wedding.

The photographies are shot from our hotelroom having fun in front the mirror dressing up just before barbeque and party on the night before the actual wedding.

LIQUIFIED BUILDINGS ANTWERPEN

A TRIBUTE TO OLD ARCHITECTURE

Yes, a tribute to the old architecture. And that is, in this case, given from the brutalistic post modern addition to the port of Antwerpen. The building gives a hugh amount of value to the existing building I guess only Zaha Hadid Architects could have made it.

It works clearly best from a distance, and it is not without a reason, that it works as an icon for the whole city and because there is a regular private officebuilding behind the shell which is quite bit a shame.
